The Green Card Lottery is an excellent program available for potential immigrants to come to the United States, but it won’t be any help to you at all if you don’t apply within the registration window!
There is only a certain time of the year in which applicants can submit their information to the Department of State for consideration in the Green Card Lottery. This is called the registration period.
The registration period for DV 2015 is from October 1, 2013 to November 2, 2013 at 12 pm EST. It is very important to note that the registration period ends in the middle of the day.
Also note that the Green Card Lottery’s official name includes the year in which the immigration visas are issued. For the DV 2015, the registration period is in 2013 and the immigration visas are issued in 2015.
Applicants who want to enter this year’s lottery must have their applications in on time. Fortunately there are still a few days left in which you can assemble your information and apply.
Application for the Green Card Lottery is a careful process as each applicant is allowed only one chance to file correctly. Any mistakes or an incomplete applications will likely result in one’s exclusion from the program. The State Department also disqualifies anyone who attempts to apply more than once.
Once you are done with your application you will be presented with a confirmation window. Here you will be given a confirmation number. It is important to keep this number safe as it is necessary for checking one’s application status on May 1, 2013.
The DV 2015 may, unfortunately, turn out to be the last Green Card Lottery, so it is more important now than ever that you apply immediately and correctly!
